Photonics Modules

Photonics ModulesXinetics has developed a breakthrough technology in the area of high-density actuation. Using three-dimensional ceramic processing, a monolithic block of ceramic is produced containing close-spaced individually addressable actuators with integrated electric traces. The actuators are physically separated at the requisite spacing after the ceramic is fully processed. The resulting module offers the highest density of individually addressable actuators. Special interconnects are available which, when placed on the backside of the module, facilitate convenient electrical addressing. The module, in the way it is constructed, has inherently higher reliability and mechanical strength than standard discrete actuator deformable mirrors.

Xinetics has developed techniques of joining individual modules to create much larger arrays of actuators. A continuous facesheet can be located and polished on top of the individual module to generate a very high-density deformable mirror. Xinetics has successfully manufactured and delivered deformable mirrors based on this technology containing 1000 and 4000 channels at a 1mm spacing and 37 and 349 channels at a 2.5mm spacing.
