Multilayer Actuators
Xinetics offers various sizes of co-fired PMN-RE actuators, which provide virtually hysteresis-free operation. Since the actuators are not poled, they offer higher stability and low creep. The PMN formulation is inherently more sensitive to operating temperature; however, the formulation can be changed to deliver the optimum performance at the desired temperature. Another significant benefit of this technology is the high modulus, which is important in high-work applications. The actuators are available in many sizes (diameter) and lengths. Typical operating voltage is 100V, while they can be driven at higher voltages for short durations. The actuators are coated with a dielectric coating for dielectric and environmental protection. Standard actuators are supplied with pre-attached four inch long leads. Maximum service temperature for the actuators is 175C; however, the performance varies with temperature. Actuators, as a routine, are cycled at full voltage for 100,000 cycles and subject to full voltage for 24 hours prior to shipment.Standard
