Driver Electronics
Xinetics provides a wide range of electronics options for deformable
mirrors. A high-speed driver provides performance over a broad range of operating
conditions and requirements. The high source current insures operation into the
20 kHz bandwidth range. In contrast, the XiMux multiplexer electronics take advantage
of the nearly perfect capacitor characteristics of PMN ceramic to provide an extremely
compact, lower cost alternative. Xinetics also offers a 1 to 10 channel driver system
for low order systems, micropositioners, and/or individual actuators.
High-Speed Driver Electronics
The Xinetics 9U Series Deformable Mirror Driver Assembly consists of a hierarchical assembly of 19 Rack Assemblies, 9U Eurocard chassis, and 9U x 400 mm printed wiring boards of two types: High Voltage Amplifiers (HVA) and Chassis Controller Cards. Each HVA incorporates the electronics to service 32 channels of mirror actuators. Each rack can support up to four chassis or a combination of power supplies and chassis. The larger systems use multiple rack assemblies. The Xinetics drivers have a digital front end that uses a parallel interface, which can be connected to computers or reconstructors at rates up to 10 million bits/sec. A custom backplane maps the actuators to the zener protection arrays. Built-in-test diagnostic circuitry can be accessed through a second digital port to monitor mirror system health.
Low-Cost XiMux Multiplexer
Driver Electronics
The deformable mirror multiplexer driver gives the end user a new lower-cost
option for mirror electronics. By using multiplexer addressing schemes and the inherent
properties of the Xinetics PMN actuators, a lwo-bandwidth, low-cost system results.
Data communication and control signals protocol simplicity gives this driver system
bench-top-rights as building block for open loop or closed loop system configurations.
The single package design can support up to four multiplexer driver boards each
controlled by an individual data and cannoned channel. The end user has flexibility
selecting a single multiplexer driver board dedicated package or a two to four multiplexer
driver board package applicable for large single or multiple deformable applications.
