Extendible Support Structure (ESS)

INMARSAT 4 Program

INMARSAT 4 Program Astro provided three nine-meter flight reflector assemblies for the Inmarsat 4 program to Astrium. This new Inmarsat constellation of satellites will support the new Broadband Global Area Network (BGAN), scheduled to enter service in 2005 to deliver Internet and intranet content and solutions, video-on-demand, videoconferencing, fax, e-mail, phone and LAN access at speeds up to 432kbit/s almost anywhere in the world.

Thuraya 12 Meter AstroMesh Reflector Thuraya, the satellite-based regional mobile communications system built by Boeing Satellite Systems (BSS) and Hughes Network Systems (HNS) for Thuraya Satellite Telecommunications Company of United Arab Emirates (UAE), began launching commercial service to more than 20 countries in 2001.
