Monolithic Lenslet Modules
Advanced Micro-Optics for Industrial, Commercial, and Government Customers
Monolithic Lenslet Modules (MLMs), are arrays of refractive micro lenses. Many arrays can be replicated from a single MLM master, which is fabricated by a proprietary, computer controlled mastering process developed by Northrop Grumman AOA Xinetics. AOA Xinetics’s lens arrays are made with optical epoxies replicated onto a BK7optical window. Custom Arrays
AOA Xinetics's proprietary design process allows custom array designs as large as 20 cm x 20 cm. The lenslet pitch can be as small as 15 microns or as large as 4 millimeters. Other array sizes and lenslet sizes may be developed on a custom basis.
For customers who would like to explore the design potential of MLMs prior to a custom fabrication, we offer a 4x4 acrylic "Sampler" which has a variety of lenslet arrays, as well as a catalog of designs that can be compression molded in acrylic plastic or replicated in epoxy on glass substrates.
Standard Arrays
AOA Xinetics's catalog of standard lenslet arrays are made of epoxy replicated onto one of four BK 7 windows. All windows offered are made from Grade A BK7, polished to a surface flatness of λ/4 (at 632.8 nm) over the clear aperture.
Anti-Reflection Coating
A broadband anti-reflection (AR) coating is provided on the glass side of each epoxy-replicated substrate. The AR coating is optimized for the 400 –700 nm wavelength region, providing ‹0.5%. Coatings for other wavelengths are also available (including NIR).
- Maximum of 2% variation in focal length over array
- Maximum error in lenslet position of 1% of the pitch or 3 microns (whichever larger), non-cumulative
- Diffraction limited
- Clear aperture is 80% of total piece size
- 70% of light in focused spot
All MLMs are made from Grade A BK7 (n=1.52), and are polished to a surface flatness of λ/4 (at 632.8 nm, over the clear aperture).
